Vaillant will launch the latest generation of the aroTHERM plus air-to-water heat pump in Germany and Austria in September 2025. The new aroTHERM plus is highly efficient, extremely quiet, and can be flexibly installed.
Vaillant has fully redesigned the aroTHERM plus air/water heat pump—one of Germany's best-selling heat pumps—five years after its market launch. The new generation of the aroTHERM plus was presented in March this year at the ISH 2025 trade fair and convinces with:
improved efficiency values – low operating costs for property owners
optimised acoustics – for a quiet neighborhood
a unique safety concept – for maximum flexibility in placement
stylish design in black-gray – modern aesthetics for any environment
The new aroTHERM plus will be available in Germany and Austria from September 2025. It is available in power ranges from 3 to 12 kW, suitable for use in single-family homes and smaller apartment buildings.
In addition to the 5-year warranty, Vaillant is initially offering digital services for the aroTHERM plus heat pump in Germany that can significantly reduce operating costs: OptimierungPLUS automatically analyses and optimises the operating parameters of the heat pump. With EnergiePLUS, the heat pump proactively uses electricity self-generated by a photovoltaic system or, in the case of a dynamic electricity tariff, time slots with lower prices for maximum comfort at minimum cost.
Depending on hot water requirements, the aroTHERM plus heat pump can be combined with three indoor units – with the uniTOWER for a space-saving hot water solution, with a wall-mounted hydraulic station for operation with a separate storage tank, or with a wall-mounted hydraulic station for hybrid and cascade systems.
The new aroTHERM plus air-to-water heat pump stands out on account of its high efficiency, low noise level, and flexible installation options. With an ETAs value of up to 202% and a high flow temperature, it is suitable for both new and existing buildings—regardless of whether they are equipped with radiators or underfloor heating.
The ETAs rating for heat pumps shows how efficiently a heat pump operates throughout the year. It indicates how much heating energy is generated in relation to electricity consumption – the higher the value, the more economical and environmentally friendly the heat pump is.
During normal operation, the sound level is only 53–60 dB(A)—comparable to the volume of a refrigerator. In night mode, it drops to a whisper-quiet 27 dB(A), which is about the same as breathing—at an output capacity of 3 kW, measured at a distance of three meters.
Due to an innovative safety concept, the heat pump's outdoor unit can be placed almost anywhere near the house with minimal distance to doors, basement windows, or light wells. This makes efficient heat pump technology available even for buildings with very limited installation possibilities and small properties.
Vaillant is initially offering digital services for the aroTHERM plus heat pump in Germany, which can significantly reduce operating costs:
OptimierungPLUS continuously checks and analyses the current operating parameters of a heating system. If necessary, the settings of the heat pump are automatically adjusted and tailored to the property and its users. This can reduce energy consumption and costs by up to 15 per cent.
The smart, cloud-based energy management system EnergiePLUS ensures that the heat pump proactively uses self-generated photovoltaic electricity. Alternatively, EnergiePLUS can be combined with a dynamic electricity tariff to identify the lowest electricity prices on the market and shift the operation of the heat pump to the most cost-effective time slots. Property owners thus benefit from lower energy costs while maintaining a high level of comfort.
The Vaillant aroTHERM plus heat pump can be conveniently operated via a touch display and controlled remotely using the myVAILLANT app.
Vaillant gives a free 5-year warranty, as long as the device is installed by a professional installer, commissioned properly, registered on the myVAILLANT portal, logged into the myVAILLANT app, and regularly serviced. The warranty covers material and manufacturing defects.
Vaillant has been making a strong impact with its aroTHERM air/water heat pump for over a decade: in 2013, Vaillant launched the first air/water heat pump with a modulating inverter compressor, developed entirely in Remscheid. It was efficient, reliable, and suitable for both new and existing buildings – a real milestone in heat pump technology at the time.
At the ISH 2019 trade fair, Vaillant is presenting the aroTHERM plus, an air/water heat pump that uses the natural refrigerant R290 – one of the first manufacturers in the heating technology industry to do so. With a very low global warming potential (GWP = 0.02), R290 is not only environmentally friendly, but also powerful: it enables high flow temperatures and makes the aroTHERM plus also attractive for the modernization of older buildings with conventional radiators.
This combination of efficiency, comfort, and sustainability is quickly making the aroTHERM plus one of the most popular heat pumps in Germany.
The latest generation of aroTHERM plus impresses with its high efficiency, quiet operation, flexible installation options, and use of the environmentally friendly refrigerant R290. A 5-year warranty is included.
