Remscheid, 16 November 2012

Remscheid-based heating technology specialist Vaillant has taken part in Germany’s first nationwide “Green Day”. More than 40 pupils from secondary schools in Remscheid took advantage of the opportunity to find out more about the role of environmental and climate protection in choosing a career.

The company opened its doors, granting the pupils between the ages of 14-16 a fascinating look at sustainability management and how innovative heating technology is developed. A tour of the plant, product demonstrations and an open dialogue between employees and pupils highlighted the many aspects of Vaillant’s core business. A commitment to education has a special place in the family-run company. Its sustainability strategy sets binding criteria for taking over social responsibility. “Green Day was a great opportunity for us to teach young people from Remscheid more about sustainability and environmental technology – and maybe even get them interested in a career in this field,” said Roger-Stephan Langenfeld, who is in charge of vocational training at Vaillant.

About Green Day

The event gave thousands of pupils throughout Germany a look at career and academic opportunities in environmental and climate protection at more than 100 companies, universities and research institutions. “Green Day – Schulen checken grüne Jobs” (Green Day – schools check out green jobs) was initiated by Zeitbild Stiftung (Zeitbild Foundation) and is sponsored by Germany’s Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. The event is scheduled to take place again next year.
