  • Every year, three German Villages are to receive energy-efficient heating technology

When Gabór Seidl thinks back to late autumn 2011, his smile freezes on his face. Generally speaking, the jolly head of Vaillant Hungary is pretty unflappable. But a call on a grey November day in 2011 certainly had an effect. The distraught woman on the phone explained that the ancient heating system in the SOS Children’s Village in Battonya, Hungary, had given up the ghost, just as winter was coming. There was no heating, no hot water – nothing was working at all. Sixty children were left sitting in the freezing cold. Seidl knew straight away what had to be done. The production schedules in Remscheid and Skalica, already full to bursting, were altered. The 16 homes in the SOS Children’s Village were fitted with new heating systems in record time, laying the foundations for a long-term partnership with Vaillant.

The expansion of the partnership to Germany is new. “We are delighted that the Vaillant Group is now showing its commitment to SOS Children’s Villages in our homeland. The partnership with SOS Children’s Villages Worldwide effectively illustrates that we take over social responsibility in those countries where do our business,” says Dr Carsten Voigtländer, CEO of the Vaillant Group. In Germany, existing systems are to be replaced by energy-efficient heating technology by 2019. The first three Villages in Worpswede, the Black Forest and Bockum are already delighted to be using high-efficiency technologies from Vaillant. “We don’t simply want to write a cheque: we want to help by doing what we do best, which is high-efficiency, environmentally friendly heating technology. This is supported by the great personal commitment of our employees and skilled technicians,” Voigtländer adds.

Around the world, Children’s Villages in France, Belgium, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Hungary, Ukraine and China have already been equipped with modern heating technology from Vaillant. The Vaillant Group has signed a five-year contract with SOS Children’s Villages Worldwide, which shows its credentials as an exceptional partner for the free provision of efficient heating technology.

Efficient heating technology teamed with personal commitment is the simple yet successful recipe of the partnership. In France, for example, skilled technicians, wholesalers and Vaillant Group employees also get involved in helping the young people get started with a career. For a charity run around the Palace of Versailles organised by an employee, Vaillant donated money to the French SOS Children’s Villages organisation for every kilometre run. Because this is what matters: experiencing and supporting the sponsorship – by the Vaillant Group, its staff and its business partners.
