  • Vaillant Group doubles production capacity with new factory to well over 500,000 heat pumps per year

  • One billion euros investments since 2016 to expand the heat pump business – further investments of the same amount planned

The Remscheid-based heating technology specialist Vaillant Group is commissioning its new mega factory for electric heat pumps in Senica, Slovakia. With a floor space of 100,000 square metres, the new plant will exclusively manufacture heat pumps from May 2023. The factory is designed for an annual production output of 300,000 heat pumps. The company, which also manufactures heat pumps in Germany, France and the UK, will thus double its production capacity to well over half a million heat pumps per year.

"With the launch of the new mega factory, we are driving forward the transformation of the Vaillant Group into a leading manufacturer of heat pumps. The company is contributing to successfully shaping the heating transition in Europe with the increased production capacities and achieving the EU target of ten million newly installed heat pumps by 2027," notes CEO of the Vaillant Group Dr.-Ing. Norbert Schiedeck. The Vaillant Group, world market leader for central heating units, already uses more than 50 per cent of its production area for the manufacture of heat pumps.

Billions in investments for the expansion of the heat pump business

From 2016 onwards, the Vaillant Group has placed its strategic focus on environmentally friendly heat pump technology. Including the projects currently underway, investments in the expansion of the continuously growing heat pump business amount to almost one billion euros. The focus was placed on upscaling production capacities at the company's headquarters in Remscheid as well as the production sites in France, the UK and Slovakia. During the same period, the company also significantly increased its research and development resources and broadened its product portfolio in the heat pump segment. Depending on future market growth, additional investments of up to another one billion euros are planned in the coming years for the further growth of production and development capacities as well as the development of digital services related to heat pumps.

Green factory for green technologies

The plant in Senica, Slovakia, is part of the Vaillant Group's international production network. In addition to the assembly lines, the mega factory includes a training centre for the company's partners in the HVAC trade, a visitor centre and a logistics centre. The new production facility is certified according to the highest international standard BREEAM for sustainable, environmentally friendly construction. The mega factory uses electricity from 100 per cent renewable sources and is heated with heat pumps.
