New hot-water tanks with Green iQ label

Press release

  • Standardised platform for almost all hot-water tanks

  • Intelligent electrical heating element uses PV electricity

  • Up to 82 per cent recyclable

At the ISH 2017, Vaillant is presenting the first hot-water tanks from the sustainable Green iQ line. The two tanks, auroSTOR and uniSTOR exclusive, are going to be awarded the Green iQ label. Compared to conventional tanks, these ones reduce heat loss by half. Up to 82 per cent of the material is recyclable. A maintenance-free impressed current anode prevents corrosion and increases the tank’s lifespan. Both products possess energy efficiency class A, the currently best possible class in accordance with the Energy Efficiency Directive. An intelligent diagnostic system accelerates the search for errors. For heat-pump systems, specially fitted tanks featuring the same equipment are being offered in the new series.

Easy to transport thanks to removable insulation

In the uniSTOR exclusive, the hot-water tank contains a coil for heat transfer. In the auroSTOR exclusive, a second coil is added in order to make the best possible use of solar heat. The products are offered with capacities of 300, 400 and 500 litres and are suitable for new and existing buildings. The insulation consisting of two half-shells with vacuum insulation and a cover can be removed for transport purposes.

In the plus version, the hot-water tanks uniSTOR and auroSTOR contain a foamed tank with a removable cover. The hot-water tanks in the plus series have been awarded a class B energy efficiency label in accordance with the Energy Efficiency Directive. This means that they adhere to the stringent requirements of energy efficiency.

Power from the photovoltaic system for hot-water tanks

Both the exclusive and the plus series have a cleaning flange as standard. It can be used for a simple or intelligent electrical heating element. With the conventional heating element, the tank’s contents can be reheated as and when required. The intelligent heating element contains a modulating heating performance of 500 W to 3.5 kW and can use the surplus power from photovoltaic systems by means of an energy manager that is part of the system. Thanks to this “power to heat” procedure, the internal use of the self-produced power is maximised. Generally speaking, the energy manager is installed directly adjacent to the photovoltaic system’s control technology and can be connected with the PV modules quickly and at little expense. “With the new hot-water tanks we are offering a common platform for almost all of the products in our range for the first time,” declares Christian Sieg, Head of Product and Service Management at Vaillant Germany. “From an installation point of view, this works to the advantage of skilled tradesmen, who always encounter familiar installation routines, regardless of the water-tank model.”

Additional tank for condensing/solar combinations

In the form of the solar combined buffer tank auroSTOR VPS RS, Vaillant will be presenting an additional solution for combined condensing/solar thermal systems at the ISH. It contains a solar and a drinking-water coil. This means that the devices are much simpler and less expensive to install. Furthermore, the hot water is produced very hygienically using the flow-through principle. The new auroSTOR VPS RS has class B energy efficiency and is noticeably more efficient than the product that preceded it. Neither a magnesium anode nor a hydraulic module is required now. Although it has the same dimensions as the previous tank, the auroSTOR VPS RS has a larger buffer volume. This makes itself felt in the increased comfort of the hot-water supply.
