Minister-President Wüst of North Rhine-Westphalia kicks off the start of production
Production of 5 million electronic units per year and further expansion possible
New electronics factory supplies all Vaillant Group plants
The Remscheid-based heating technology specialist Vaillant Group has opened a new factory for the production of electronic components at its headquarters in Remscheid. The official start of production was marked by an opening ceremony on 20 November 2024, attended by the Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hendrik Wüst, the Lord Mayor of Remscheid, Burkhard Mast-Weisz, and representatives of the Vaillant Group management board. The new electronics production plant has a key function for the company's international production network. The plant will supply all Vaillant Group sites worldwide with electronic components that are necessary for the operation and control of modern heat pump systems and gas heating appliances.
The production capacity is around 5 million electronic components per year and can be flexibly increased in the future. The investment was made due to the growing demand for electronic components in connection with the expansion of the strategically important heat pump business. With the new production, the Vaillant Group has sufficient long-term in-house production capacity for electronic components and can react flexibly at any time to increases in market demand.
The new electronics factory was built in less than two years and is located in the immediate vicinity of the company headquarters, the research and development centre and the parent plant of the Vaillant Group in Remscheid. The factory has a floor space of 12,000 square metres. A photovoltaic system for electricity generation and an innovative heat pump system for heating and cooling ensure that the building is almost completely powered by renewable energy. When production starts, around 150 skilled workers will be employed in manufacturing.
Hendrik Wüst, Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia: “The Vaillant Group's investment is a strong signal in favour of North Rhine-Westphalia as an economic centre. For 150 years, the family-owned company has been combining tradition with innovation and focusing on regional value creation. Thanks to the new electronics production plant, all locations worldwide can benefit from innovation and high-tech made in NRW. This strengthens our industrial region and makes us resilient to global challenges. With a clear orientation towards future technologies, Vaillant is showing the way to a sustainable and successful economy in North Rhine-Westphalia.”
“The expansion of our electronic production is part of our long-term corporate strategy. As the world market leader in gas-fired heating appliances, our goal is to also become a leading player in the European heat pump market. Investments in the expansion of our production network and heat pump development are accelerating the ongoing transformation of the Vaillant Group,” said Vaillant Group CEO Dr.-Ing. Norbert Schiedeck. In the overall European market, the company is one of the three largest suppliers of heat pumps.
The Vaillant Group is an internationally active company based in Remscheid, Germany, which operates in the fields of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning technology. As one of the global market and technology leaders, the Vaillant Group develops and manufactures customised products, systems and services to provide a comfortable living environment. Its product portfolio ranges from efficient heating devices based on conventional energy sources to system solutions for using renewable energy. In the financial year 2023, the company, which has been family-owned since its foundation in 1874, generated sales of around 3.8 billion euros with its workforce of 17,000.
