Vaillant Group grieves for Karl-Ernst Vaillant

Karl-Ernst Vaillant, Partner of the Vaillant Group and long-serving former Managing Director, passed away on May 4, 2022, at the age of 86. With entrepreneurial farsightedness, profound technical understanding and untiring personal commitment, Karl-Ernst Vaillant very successfully and sustainably advanced the development of the family-owned company.
After studying mechanical and process engineering at the Technical Universities of Munich and Karlsruhe and subsequent traineeships abroad, the engineering graduate joined the family-owned company which was founded by his great-grandfather Johann Vaillant in 1874 as a technical employee in 1965. After additional business studies at INSEAD in France, he was appointed Managing Director Industrial of Joh. Vaillant KG in 1966.
As Managing Director, Karl-Ernst Vaillant shaped the development of the Vaillant Group for more than 30 years. He was responsible for important and successful product innovations in the areas of wall-hung heating appliances and boilers, control technology and domestic hot water appliances. During his time as Managing Director, the Vaillant Group developed into one of the world's leading companies in the HVAC industry.
In addition to his entrepreneurial pursuits, Karl-Ernst Vaillant was active in numerous committees and organisations in industry and science and published several technical publications. He received numerous awards for his work and his commitment, including the Bavarian Order of Merit, the honorary senatorship of the Technical University of Karlsruhe and the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, 1st class.
For the Vaillant Group and the entire HVAC industry, Karl-Ernst Vaillant was an important and defining personality. His energy and entrepreneurial passion distinguished him throughout his life, as did his humane manner. The Partners' Board, the Management Board and the entire staff of the Vaillant Group mourn the loss of Karl-Ernst Vaillant and will always honor his memory.
