  • Focus on heat pump systems for different types of buildings at the ISH trade fair

  • New products for efficient heat and domestic hot water supply of apartment buildings

  • Comprehensive range of training courses and online services support the transformation for installers

At the International Trade Fair for Sanitation and Heating (ISH), Vaillant, the world market leader for central heating systems, is presenting technologies and services that can make an important contribution to the heating transition and to achieving climate targets. Vaillant will be showcasing heat pumps for all types of buildings, which can be used for both renovation and new constructions. Vaillant will also be presenting new products for heat and hot water comfort in apartment buildings. Another focus area is services for installers, including online support ranging from planning to maintenance and the remote optimisation of heating devices, as well as an extensive learning portal with more than 500 training courses.

Compact hot-water heat pump ideal for apartments and entire storeys

With the new fluoSTOR hot-water heat pump, Vaillant is expanding its offer for apartment buildings. The heat pump works on the basis of the natural refrigerant R290. Due to its low global-warming potential, the refrigerant is particularly environmentally friendly and enables high flow temperatures. As a result, the fluoSTOR heat pumps ensure high water comfort. The use of the heat from the central heating circuit means no further heat sources are required on the storey to provide domestic hot water. With a capacity of 150 litres, the fluoSTOR is extremely compact and can be installed wall-hung in apartments or on the floor of apartment buildings.

The aroTHERM plus monobloc air-water heat pump also uses the natural refrigerant R290. Due to the high flow temperatures, the aroTHERM plus heat pumps can provide heating and water comfort not only in new buildings, but also in older, less insulated existing buildings. At the ISH, Vaillant will be presenting the aroTHERM plus in five output classes: with 3 kW, 5 kW, 7 kW, 10 kW and 12 kW heating output. The heat pumps can be combined in cascade solutions, in which case they offer not only higher heating output but also efficient coverage of different, seasonal heat requirements. Due to the scalability of the system, even larger apartment buildings can be heated with heat pumps.

Intelligent energy management maximises the use of self-generated electricity

The heat pumps are particularly environmentally friendly and cost-effective if they are operated with renewable energy generated directly on-site. Vaillant offers photovoltaic systems and battery storage systems to integrate the heat pump into a building energy system. Photovoltaic inverter, heat pump and battery storage system, integrated into a complete system, are networked with each other via the EEBUS communication standard and can be controlled using a mobile app.

The energy management software automatically decides when it is best to utilise the solar power for the user’s own property and when it may make sense to feed it into the grid. This makes it possible to achieve the highest self-consumption rate available in all weather conditions, bringing the greatest possible cost savings for the user. In this way, up to 50 per cent of the electricity required for heating can be covered with self-generated energy.

New domestic hot water station and ventilation unit

The new aquaFLOW domestic hot water station allows for central and hygienic water heating for apartment buildings with more than five storeys. A central buffer storage tank is filled by a heat pump and drinking water is heated in a continuous flow system via a heat exchanger.

Vaillant is responding to the increasing demand for high air quality and humidity management, especially in the renovation of apartment buildings, with the updated decentralised recoVAIR60 ventilation unit. The decentralised device can be easily installed in existing buildings and helps to save up to 30 per cent of heating costs through heat recovery.

Training for installers an important part of the heating transition

Vaillant is working closely with its HVAC trade partners to successfully shape the heating transition. In order to make its specialist partners fit for the installation of heat pumps, Vaillant offers an online learning platform with more than 500 digital learning offers that are accessible at all times. Depending on the level of prior knowledge, the installers can acquire basic skills and qualifications, in-depth expert knowledge, or certification. The online learning platform is currently available in six countries in the respective national languages. From 2024, it will be freely available to trade partners in all of the company’s markets. Across Europe, more than 45,000 installers took advantage of Vaillant's training offers in 2022.

Online services support installers

Vaillant offers its installer partners digital services from the planning to the maintenance of heating systems and links them in such a way that customer data once created is available on all tools used. For example, a plan can be created via the quick design tool, which can then be used immediately for quotations, orders, settings and hydraulic diagrams.

With the online-based tool HeizungCONNECT plus and the APP myVAILLANT Pro, end customers' heating systems can be ideally supported, adjusted and optimised. Ongoing remote support and optimisation significantly reduces on-site appointments. With remote support and parameterisation, the installer ensures that their customers’ heating systems work efficiently in the long term and consume as little energy as possible. This saves system owners time and money.

Vaillant will be presenting all its innovations at the ISH in Frankfurt am Main from 13 to 17 March 2023 – Booth E 91 in Hall 12.1.
