New Vaillant Group Sustainability Report: binding targets to be achieved by 2020

High-efficiency technologies and renewable energies to account for 80 per cent of sales

Remscheid, 24 August 2012 – In its new Sustainability Report, Remscheid-based heating technology specialist Vaillant Group has communicated verifiable targets valid on a Group-wide basis for the first time. “We would like to increase the share of sales attributable to high-efficiency technologies and products based on renewable energy sources successively to 80 per cent by 2020,” explains Dr Carsten Voigtländer, CEO of the Vaillant Group. “This target is our response to the requirements of our customers, who have justifiably high expectations as regards the efficiency and environmental sustainability of innovative heating and ventilation technology.” The Group intends to cut the greenhouse gas emissions generated by its product portfolio by 15 per cent during the same period. The goal in the fields of production, administration and logistics is to reduce CO₂ emissions by 25 per cent while increasing energy efficiency by 20 per cent. In addition, the company is looking to reduce the amount of waste it produces and the amount of water it consumes by 20 per cent.

Setting targets that are valid on a Group-wide basis is another important step for the Vaillant Group following the publication of the strategic sustainability programme S.E.E.D.S. in early 2011. “By doing so, we are consciously demonstrating to our customers, employees and suppliers how important sustainability is to us,” explains Dr Jens Wichtemann, who is responsible for sustainability management at the Vaillant Group. “We have initiated specific measures to reach our targets, and are managing our activities using a differentiated management system that covers every part of the company.”
