  • 3 kW heat output for low-energy and passive houses

  • Ideal for upgrading decentralised heating systems in the housing industry

  • Allows flexible addition of various hydraulic modules

All the heating requirements of a low-energy or passive house can be met with a low level of heat output. Vaillant now has a new geoTHERM heat pump for this purpose, featuring 3 kW of output. The installation method is unique on the market, as the new device is wall-hung, just like a gas-fired condensing boiler. The heat pump is monoenergetic in operation, as it requires no further energy source apart from electric power, and neither does it need a peak-load generator. The brine-water heat pump receives its energy via a probe or ground collector. Due to the low level of heat output, the source of the heat can be relatively small.

Combined with panel heating, this heat pump is ideally suited for energy-efficient refurbishment of buildings with several residential units. Moreover, a geoTHERM heat pump is quite small, so that an outmoded gas-fired non-condensing unit can be replaced both quickly and conveniently. Next, the heat pumps on the individual floors are connected to a central geothermal drill hole. “The geoTHERM heat pump permits the economic and at the same time environmentally friendly modernisation of large buildings,” says Christian Sieg, Head of Product and Service Management at Vaillant Germany.

The heat pump can be flexibly combined with hot-water tanks, hydraulic stations such as uniTOWER and aroTHERM and all Vaillant condensing boilers. It also runs very quietly. The uniTOWER hydraulic station, for instance, is an ideal addition to many applications. It contains all the hydraulic components, an electric heating element and a multiMATIC 700 system controller. The 190-litre hot-water tank, which forms part of the system, ensures a good supply of hot water. Alternatively, it is also possible to use the aroTHERM heat pump’s hydraulic station.
