Protecting nature’s resources. And those of our customers.

Genia Hybrid is especially efficient when it comes to heating and cooling homes – and consumes much less primary energy than conventional technologies. Because it also saves space, the hybrid system is particularly popular among people with small homes.

Extraordinarily economical – and astoundingly easy to install

Many people would associate the word “hybrid” with an environmentally friendly drive concept for vehicles. However, the same technology has long since been increasing environmental protection in the field of heating and air-conditioning technology.

The hybrid system Genia Hybrid from AWB combines an air-water heat pump with a condensing boiler. The heat pump is particularly efficient when it comes to generating hot water in summer, when the air temperature is high. In winter, the economical condensing boiler keeps the home snug. Genia Hybrid therefore consumes an average of 35 per cent less primary energy, reduces CO₂ emissions by 35 per cent and saves 25 per cent of heating costs compared with conventional systems.

These impressive figures mainly come down to the optimally adjusted interaction of system components: the integrated ExaMaster microcomputer coordinates the individual devices based on the energy efficiency being recalculated every minute – therefore determining the best operational mode at any given time.

The fact that Genia Hybrid now spares resources and lowers costs in many homes is not least because of an additional benefit attributed to the system, which may not seem all that impressive at first glance: it is particularly easy to install.

The majority of blind holes and holes drilled into houses and buildings are no longer needed, neither are complicated connections to existing systems and fittings. Thanks to the minimal effort required for installation and its excellent value for money, using Genia Hybrid in large-scale housing developments is also paying off – installing the device into numerous homes at once makes its advantages even more obvious.

Using the following example taken from the Netherlands, the home of our AWB brand, we will show you how the attractive features of the hybrid system make an impact in practice.

The advantages of Genia Hybrid open doors. Or better put: open doors to new homes.

Low installation time, great value for money: Genia Hybrid gives installers convincing arguments for using the system in large-scale renovation and new build projects.

It is so simple. Almost like Plug&Play.

When applied to the Genia Hybrid system, the somewhat overused idiom “less is more” takes on a whole new meaning.

Thanks to Genia Hybrid, increasing energy efficiency was a piece of cake for Leeuwarden

Location: Leeuwarden, Friesland province, the Netherlands. Project: new build comprising 88 flats, Bilgaard residential and commercial centre. Task: to install the hybrid system Genia Hybrid.

Sander van der Wagen, project manager at a big Dutch construction company, was astounded by the rapid development his colleague was making in the installation of the Genia Hybrid systems. The expert could see that the installation was running extremely smoothly – much to the joy of his colleague, who was whistling along to his seasoned hand movements. Sander looked on amazed: “It’s so simple. Almost like Plug&Play!”

New experiences with a new kind of technology

A new experience for Sander. Many heating systems are extremely complicated – also when it comes to their installation. They can push technicians’ nerves to the limit and costs through the roof. Not to mention the fact that the technology normally takes up a huge amount of space.

Economical – but how?!

When planning the Bilgaarden project – a shopping centre with integrated living spaces – the Dutch city of Leeuwarden and the building contractor had a joint goal in mind: a heating system was to supply the 88 flats with heat and hot water. But there was not a great deal of time in which to realise the project. To complicate matters, there was only a limited amount of space. The system could only be built into the storage cupboards in the small flats – a space that the occupants desperately needed for a washing machine.

Genia Hybrid impresses city and building contractors

The ideal solution was soon found in the AWB Genia Hybrid. The hybrid system was selected for its quick and easy installation and the fact that it only takes up 0.1 m³ of space in the flat. The condensing boiler even leaves enough space for a washing machine. The system’s second principal component – the Genia Air air-water heat pump – is housed outside the flats, for example on the roof, as is the case in Leeuwarden.

Key system components: the savings box

The heating installer suddenly stopped his whistling

“What, finished already?” asked Sander van der Wagen.

“Not quite. I still need to install one last part.”

The technician presented a small device to Sander as if it were a gift.

“Do you know what this is?”

Sander knew full well that the man was holding an ExaMaster in his hands: the microcomputer calculates the energy efficiency of the system on a minute-by-minute basis and uses this information to decide which component should generate heat and hot water or cool the flat.

“Of course I know. That’s the savings box.”

Now it was the technician’s turn to look surprised.

“It’s simple: because the box is so good at maths, the occupants save 25 per cent of their heating costs. And what do they do with their money?”

The workman shrugged his shoulders clueless.

“They go and spend it downstairs in the shopping centre, of course!”

Bright prospects for the ecologically minded

HelioConcept120 from AWB is a flexible system for generating hot water using solar energy. It consumes up to 50 per cent less energy than conventional systems.

More comfort, less consumption

The ExaControl room thermostat optimises the efficiency of the heating system and increases comfort thanks to its customised programming option – besides being especially easy to operate.

Elegant savings, reliable heating

Hot water output of over 91 per cent; stand-by energy consumption of just 2 W: the ThermoElegance Advance condensing boiler demonstrates its efficiency in day-to-day operations – and proves to be particularly reliable even under high stresses.
